Acupuncture

Acupuncture can provide advantages such as alleviating pain, reducing stress, and promoting overall physical and emotional health. This traditional Chinese medicinal technique is rooted in the belief that disruptions or obstructions in the flow of the body's life force, known as qi, can lead to health problems.

Hot Cupping

Hot cupping is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments. The technique involves placing glass or plastic cups on the skin and creating a vacuum by heating them with a flame or suction device. The suction pulls the skin and underlying tissues into the cup, which is believed to stimulate blood flow and promote healing.

Reiki

Reiki is a form of alternative healing therapy that originated in Japan. It involves the use of energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Reiki practitioners believe that energy flows through the body and can become blocked, leading to illness and other health problems. By using their hands to channel energy into the body, Reiki practitioners aim to remove these blockages and promote healing.

Ayurveda Treatments

Ayurvedic practitioners use a variety of techniques to balance the doshas and promote overall wellness, including massage, meditation, yoga, and herbal remedies. They also emphasize the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle, with a focus on eating fresh, whole foods and getting regular exercise.  Contact us to learn how this treatment can help you!

Meet Dr. Shannon Schaupmeyer, RAc

Shannon's journey towards becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture was not exactly a direct one. She had already established a career as a full-time job project manager in the land development industry.  But that was not her true calling.

During her time in the land development industry, Shannon saw firsthand the impact that stress and a lack of work-life balance can have on individuals. She noticed how people were struggling with their mental and physical health, and how this was affecting their overall quality of life. It was this realization that motivated Shannon to pursue a career in acupuncture and holistic healthcare.

She wanted to help people to not just treat their symptoms, but to address the root cause of their health issues. She wanted to empower her patients to take charge of their own health and well-being. After years of hard work and dedication, Shannon finally achieved her goal of becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture!

She founded Be More Bendy as a way to provide high-quality healthcare services to the people of Edmonton and beyond. At Be More Bendy, Shannon offer a range of services, including acupuncture, cupping therapy, Ayerveda, Reiki, and other services. She works closely with their patients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique health concerns.

Shannon's commitment to improving the lives of her patients goes beyond just providing healthcare services. She believes in educating her patients about the importance of self-care and healthy lifestyle habits. She offers workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, nutrition, and mindfulness. Through her work at Be More Bendy, Shannon is making a real difference in the lives of her patients. She is helping them to achieve greater physical and mental well-being, and empowering them to take control of their own health. Her dedication to making a positive impact on the world is an inspiration to us all.

And she looks forward to meeting you personally!

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture can provide advantages such as alleviating pain, reducing stress, and promoting overall physical and emotional health. This traditional Chinese medicinal technique is rooted in the belief that disruptions or obstructions in the flow of the body's life force, known as qi, can lead to health problems.  During acupuncture sessions, thin needles are carefully inserted into specific points in the body to restore energy balance, ultimately leading to the alleviation or elimination of symptoms.  Don't care for needles?  We have other methods that can assist you!

What is Heat Cupping?

Cupping therapy, a time-honored practice, is now classified under holistic or alternative medicine, much like acupuncture and aromatherapy. In this therapy, the therapist applies suction cups made of different materials, like bamboo, glass, or plastic, to various parts of the body. In the past, shells and horns were also used for this purpose. The cups are left in place, and the suction created stimulates blood flow, sometimes causing a red or purple hickey-like bruise on the skin. This therapy is believed to alleviate muscle and joint pain, reduce inflammation, and improve blood circulation.

What is Reiki?

The term “rei” in Japanese carries the connotation of “universal” or “God’s wisdom,” while “ki” refers to the vital life energy that courses through all living things. Reiki healing can be understood as a force that operates throughout the universe, guiding and sustaining all life. Practitioners of Reiki act as intermediaries between their clients and this universal source of healing energy, rather than relying on their own powers to effect change. During a session, the practitioner will use their hands to direct the flow of energy through the client’s body, helping to unblock stagnant energy that may be causing physical or emotional distress. The ultimate goal of Reiki is to promote health and harmony throughout the entire body.
